#030 Antoinette VII 1909

Designed and built by Leon Levavasseur the Antoinette was named after his partner's daughter. This revolutionary aeronautical yet gracefully designed aircraft incorporated a V8 engine and wing warping. It could reach a top speed of 70 KPH. Flown by Hubert Latham in his second failed attempt to cross the English Channel, it later set the world's first altitude record at 508 feet. Wingspan 12.80 m (42 ft 8 in)
