Because of this, the Wright brothers have been credited with the first documented powered flight in history. Wilbur and Orville launched a new age, where man can fly. The Wright Flyer was nicknamed 'Kitty Hawk' from the area where the first flight took place. It featured a frontal elevator, rear rudder and 'wing warping' for lateral control.Wingspan 40 ft 4 in (12.29 m)
