#037 Gotha G V 1917

The Gotha Bomber was used by the Luftstreitkräfte (Imperial German Air Service) and classified as a Heavy Bomber. Designed for long range service, the G V series was used principally as night bombers. It came with a special armament feature called a 'Gotha Tunnel' as an innovation against underside fighter attack. Our shirt shows 904/16 named after Commander Claus Petersen's wife. According to records it was shot down on the night of July 24/25, 1918 by friendly fire while on a night training flight.Wingspan 23.70 m (77 ft 9 in)
